His Turn

He tells me it’s his turn to wait
and he will, as long as it takes
for he wants nothing more in this world
than for us to be together again
because he can never love another
the way that he loves me
and he’s right, in a way, when he says
that I cannot comprehend the depth of his feelings
it’s been too long since i was under his spell
and could believe the words that fell off his tongue
so I catalog this under
promises that would have come in so handy
years and a million tear drops ago
when I was all his and he couldn’t find the time
to give our love his all.
